Meeting Minutes for April 12 2005 Start : 7:15pm at Plaza Grill

Announcements : 



Redwood Curtain – reopened as of 4/10/05 : 



˜20 people at workday 4/9; more signage re: fern rule needed; many fern-starts growing, so be gentle & educate others 



Wed. Cooper Gulch Doubles – restarted April 6 – contact Keith 442-2534 for info 



No update, as no representative from Eureka golf scene present 



Spring Fling Tourney – Cooper Gulch celebrated 1yr. anniversary March 19 



No update, as no rep. present; however, much rain probably kept participation down 



Discussion Topics : 



Buddha Tree 



April 30/May 1 @ Ammon; 90 cap; Belchik TD; need volunteers, contact TD; Michael Amiel sponsoring; Skwid to contact Belchik/Amiel about where to register; more details on website 



River Course maintenance plan 



Jimmy created plan, will submit w/ schedule to Water District early next week, once approved (˜ 1x/mo. for 3 mos. then every other month) schedule will be on website; Murphy will be point man; need 2x4s for tees @ 1 st workparty; Skwid to contact Chainsaw for 2x4 donation 



Bag Tags/Rankings 



Possible Summerfoot kickoff on Aug 20-21; discuss further at next meeting; will be Arcata courses only, Keith may be doing @ Cooper too 



New Secretary appointment 



According to by-laws, need majority of directors to appoint, & as Lisa stepped down, leaves only 3 directors so a majority is 2; Jimmy nominated Velma, Andy seconded, Velma is officially new secretary 



Webmaster update 



Decision made to stick w/ Jocelyn for now, as she is paid through May; working toward transition to someone else, w/ priority to golfer 



Golfer Census Survey update 



Disc Golf mag has article on clubs that gather demographic info similar to our plan; impetus is to show our political muscle; discussion tabled until summer; JT volunteered 

to be point guy & collect other clubs' surveys for comparison; goal is for September implementation 



HSU Disc Golf Club 



Announce @ Buddha Tree that Par Infinity seeks a student to volunteer to spearhead the re-establishment of HSU DG Club on campus; JT can be faculty advisor; shoot for Fall semester startup 



Membership fee increase for postage? 



Currently $20 new/$10 renew; discussed change to $25/$20, and dropping “no disc” option for new members; tabled discussion until summer

Discussion of possibility of Email updates for members; Andy will discuss w/ Q 

New workday scheduled May 7 at Redwood Curtain; concentration on chipping paths on Back 9/sign-posting Zen Garden ; Andy to let Dutch know 

Velma's idea of 1-day Chick Tourney brought up by Jimmy; brainstorming ideas included: committee TD, men as caddies, sponsor-a-babe, auction w/ bidding for caddies or golfers as fundraiser, name Cherries & Tarts?, possible date Sep. 11 (Sunday) 

Crescent City course approved by city, going in across from Brewpub on Ocean; Par Infinity sponsoring 1-day tourney at temp course on Sat June 25; Skwid is contact between Par Infinity & Ron Cole, point man for city; Skwid to create flyer & be TD 

Topic of club disc sales brought up; decision is need for availability at Summerfoot; would like 2 types: a new stamp, and a commemorative reissue, to start w/ Mindstate stamp (need Wood's o.k.) discuss at next meeting
